Tinuy-an Falls of Bislig, Surigao del Sur

Tinuy-an Falls Surigao
I really do not know what is it about the waterfalls that makes me naturally attracted to it. All I know is that I find it exciting standing in front of a huge waterfalls. The rushing sound as the water drops into its basin, the water spray and the visual beauty of the scene in front of me stimulates my senses. This is exactly the reason why I don't believe that waterfalls look the same.

Tinuy-an Falls is indeed a pride of Bislig. Reputedly, this is the widest waterfalls at 95 meters width in the country and sometimes being compared to the majestic Niagara Falls. Boasting a 3-tiered cascading waterfalls with an expansive wading pool at the middle level, which is also the most tallest at 35 meters height and the most photographed portion of the waterfalls.

There is a concrete and metal staircases at the right side of the waterfalls which will lead you to the topmost part of Tinuy-an Falls. Pay extra caution as these staircases are slippery, but there is a side bar you can grip to maintain your balance. Going further at this point is already restricted by the management.

How to go to Tinuy-an Falls

Tinuy-an Falls is located in Sitio Sote, Barangay Burboanan, Bislig City. This is about 5-6 hours arduous bus ride from Davao City. Airconditioned buses plies the Davao-Bislig route twice daily (2AM and 9AM), while regular buses leaves Davao on an hourly basis until 3PM. If you are coming from Butuan City, the entire duration of the trip (Butuan-Bislig) would take about 4-5 hours. In the event that you stayed at Hinatuan, it would take about an hour to reach Bislig. Other alternative is to negotiate a habal-habal driver to take you directly to Tinuy-an Falls, especially if you visited Enchanted River on the same day. From the city proper, one need to traverse 12km rough road either through a habal-habal or a private vehicle.
